5v5 Hillsborough, NJ Divisions

Hey All! A couple more quick notes for this weekend's event! :)

As you may already know, we are running the 5v5 Tournament and the Keeper Cup simultaneously and will do our best to accommodate any scheduling conflicts to ensure everyone is able to play their scheduled matches. This may mean minor delays to the start of a 5v5 game to adjust for a Keeper Cup playoff, if necessary. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we work to make sure everyone has the best experience possible.

Don't forget...1st, 2nd & 3rd place in each division will receive medals and qualify for our 2026 National Championships in FL!

VENUE INFORMATION:
Location: Iron Peak Sports & Events, 137 Mountain View Rd, Hillsborough, NJ
- There will be concessions & a full restaurant on site for food and drinks.
- All games will be played indoors on turf. Cleats are allowed.

Dear Coaches and Teams,

The tournament schedules are now posted for the 5v5 Hillsborough, NJ Soccer tournament this weekend. You can view them at this link: https://soccer.exposureevents.com/254838/5v5-hillsborough-nj/schedule

Please review the schedule to ensure you are in the correct division and that there are no conflicts with your bracket(s). Schedules are subject to change, so be sure to check back on Friday evening.

Please check your team in at the tournament check in table 30 minutes prior to your first game. Remember to bring any roster changes, as this will be your last opportunity to make changes. Only one representative from each team needs to attend the check-in.

You are welcome to email me all the forms for a non-contact check-in. Make sure to send 1 email per team, subject put the team name exactly like they are registered with the division they are playing. Make sure to sign the bottom of the roster form. Although proof of age won’t be examined at check-in, please keep the cards/certificates with you in case of a challenge.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE SHARE WITH YOUR PARENTS

We want to remind everyone of our zero tolerance policy for referee abuse at 5v5 Soccer. As we aim to create a positive and fun tournament, it is crucial that we maintain a supportive sideline environment. While competition is part of the game, let's remember to be respectful and encouraging. Referees play a vital role in ensuring fair play, and we must treat them with respect.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO:

‣ Encourage positive behavior
‣ Cheer and support without aggression
‣ Communicate with respect
‣ Focus on player development

By following these guidelines, we can create a safe and inclusive atmosphere for everyone involved. This should extend to how we treat all team supporters, coaches, staff members, players on both teams and our officials.

A FEW POINTS OF EMPHASIS ON THE 5V5 SOCCER RULES

Touchline (Sideline) Restarts: In place of throw-ins will be kick-ins OR a dribble in with the ball placed stationary on the touchline. A player may not directly kick a ball into the goal from its stationary restart position. A player may dribble the ball into play and after the ball makes a full rotation may then be kicked into the goal. Kick-ins will be treated as indirect kicks until dribbled.

Direct Restarts: A Corner Kick and Kickoff are Direct Kicks. The kick-off may go in any direction.

Goal Kick: Any time a Goal Kick is required, the goalkeeper will execute a Goal Clearance (ball must leave the Penalty Arc). The goalkeeper will start with the ball in their hands and may either (1) Throw or roll the ball, (2) Put the ball down and pass/kick, (3) put the ball down and dribble out of the Penalty Arc.

Once the ball has been put down, the ball is effectively “live”, meaning defending players may enter the penalty arc. The goalkeeper must release the ball within four seconds. Failure to execute the Goal Clearance within 4 seconds will result in an Indirect kick at the top of the arc for the opposition. A goal may not be scored directly from a goal clearance. Once the ball is OUTSIDE the Penalty Arc, a goal may be scored from anywhere on the field. The ball may not be punted or drop-kicked. Infractions will result in an Indirect Kick at the top of the arc for the opposition.

We are still accepting registrations. If you know anyone interested in playing, please have them contact me as soon as possible. We will fill slots on a first-come, first-served basis.

The schedule will be posted on https://5v5soccer.com/ by late Thursday evening. Please send any schedule requests to dawn@5v5soccer.com no later than Wednesday. Be sure to include team name, division, and event location in the subject line. Any requests made later than Monday may not be accepted.

** Important Payment Reminder: If your team has not paid, please do so now. Failure to pay or communicate with staff will result in your team being removed from the event by Thursday morning. **
