Dear Teams,
We are thrilled to have you participating in the upcoming 5v5 Soccer Tournament! Some reminders as we head into tomorrow's event.
Your on site Tournament Director will be Nikki. She can be reached at 570-862-5094 the day of the event. Please call or text her only with emergencies. Otherwise, see her at the check in table with any questions.
If you have pre-ordered a shirt, please show your receipt at the check in table and pick it up at any point in the day.
KEEP TO THE SCHEDULE
We have a very tight schedule to work with. We ask that all teams are ready to compete at their scheduled times. This means that teams will not have time to warm up on the fields prior to game time. Referees have been instructed to stick to the schedule.
FACILITY NOTES:
FOOD
As a reminder, the KOPSC Concession Stand will be open.
EQUIPMENT CARE
While we don’t mind everyone having fun we ask that all guests refrain from Climbing or Hanging on the goals. Some of the goals are very lightweight and fragile. Please ensure both players and siblings stay off them.
PARKING
Parking will be VERY TIGHT. We are asking everyone to carpool when possible. Parking can be found at James Baxter Park. There will be parking allowed along the fence except in areas marked “No Parking.” There will also be parking available at the Merion Building. We ask that families do not park in spots reserved for the businesses inside the Merion Building. Please refer to the maps located in the digital program for more information. We also ask that all traffic laws are followed, the Upper Merion Police Department will be regularly patrolling
TEAM VILLAGE
We welcome teams to set up tents in our team village area. This area is normally our playing field and has been closed this spring for rehabilitation. We ask that teams respect any roped off area. In addition, we ask that teams do not practice in this area.
ALCOHOL & TAILGATING PROHIBITED
James Baxter Park is in a school zone, therefore there is a strict no alcohol policy on the premises. We welcome teams to bring food and drinks to our tournament; however, we are not permitted to grill on the fields or parking lots.
NO PETS
We ask that all non-service animal pets stay at home.
A map of the facility is attached, for your convenience.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE SHARE WITH YOUR PARENTS
We want to remind everyone of our zero tolerance policy for referee abuse at 5v5 Soccer. As we aim to create a positive and fun tournament, it is crucial that we maintain a supportive sideline environment. While competition is part of the game, let's remember to be respectful and encouraging. Referees play a vital role in ensuring fair play, and we must treat them with respect.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO:
‣ Encourage positive behavior
‣ Cheer and support without aggression
‣ Communicate with respect
‣ Focus on player development
By following these guidelines, we can create a safe and inclusive atmosphere for everyone involved. This should extend to how we treat all team supporters, coaches, staff members, players on both teams and our officials.
A FEW POINTS OF EMPHASIS ON THE 5V5 SOCCER RULES
Touchline (Sideline) Restarts: In place of throw-ins will be kick-ins OR a dribble in with the ball placed stationary on the touchline. A player may not directly kick a ball into the goal from its stationary restart position. A player may dribble the ball into play and after the ball makes a full rotation may then be kicked into the goal. Kick-ins will be treated as indirect kicks until dribbled.
Direct Restarts: A Corner Kick and Kickoff are Direct Kicks. The kick-off may go in any direction.
Goal Kick: Any time a Goal Kick is required, the goalkeeper will execute a Goal Clearance (ball must leave the Penalty Arc). The goalkeeper will start with the ball in their hands and may either (1) Throw or roll the ball, (2) Put the ball down and pass/kick, (3) put the ball down and dribble out of the Penalty Arc.
Once the ball has been put down, the ball is effectively “live”, meaning defending players may enter the penalty arc. The goalkeeper must release the ball within four seconds. Failure to execute the Goal Clearance within 4 seconds will result in an Indirect kick at the top of the arc for the opposition. A goal may not be scored directly from a goal clearance. Once the ball is OUTSIDE the Penalty Arc, a goal may be scored from anywhere on the field. The ball may not be punted or drop-kicked. Infractions will result in an Indirect Kick at the top of the arc for the opposition.
